FAQs
Do I need previous woodworking experience to join the class?
No. This course is designed for beginners and assumes no prior woodworking experience. Students will learn foundational skills such as measuring, marking, cutting, sanding, assembly, and finishing through guided projects. Safety instruction is provided before any tool use, and skills are introduced progressively throughout the course.
What safety precautions are used in the woodshop?
Safety is the highest priority in our woodshop. Students receive instruction on proper tool use, shop procedures, personal protective equipment (PPE), and safe work habits. Students must pass safety assessments before using tools and are expected to follow all shop rules at all times. Eye protection is required during designated activities, and all work is supervised by the instructor.
What types of projects will students build?
Students complete a variety of hands-on woodworking projects designed to develop skills and confidence. Depending on the course level, projects may include shelves, decorative boxes, night-light boxes, tool totes, and small furniture pieces such as an end table. Each project emphasizes craftsmanship, problem-solving, creativity, and safe tool use while allowing students to take home completed work they can be proud of.
